This is my primary garden, home to many perennials and a few favorite, woodchuck resistant annuals.  This morning I yanked out a wheelbarrow load of the ferns, which seem to want to be the star of the show, always attempting to overshadow the bright flowers!  Don’t get me wrong, I love the luxuriant, lush look they give the garden, but by mid-summer I’d rather see the bold pinks and yellows of the roses and coreopsis!

The ferns I pulled are now languishing in the compost bin, amidst egg shells and black banana peels, on their way to becoming next year’s fertilizer!
